Day 1 - London to Madrid

We depart St Pancras International by Eurostar for Paris in Leisure Select Class, with a complimentary meal and drinks served on board. After crossing Paris by coach, we join the overnight Francisco de Goya sleeper train for the journey to Madrid. (E)


Days 2-3 - Discovering Madrid

On arrival in Madrid we transfer to the Hotel Nacional for a two-night stay. Sightseeing on Day 2 includes the Plaza Mayor, the Prado Museum and the magnificent Royal Palace (entry fee not included). Day 3 is free for you to explore the vibrant Spanish capital and discover its superb selection of truly great art museums, stunning architecture, lively plazas and mighty boulevards. (Day 2-B; Day 3-B)


Days 4-5 - By train to Ronda

We travel south by train to the beautiful town of Ronda, set in the heart of Andalucía, for a two-night stay at the Hotel Maestranza. On Day 5 we take a sightseeing tour which includes a visit to the oldest bullring in Spain, the Mondragon Palace and Puente Nuevo, the bridge over Ronda's famous gorge. The afternoon is free to explore. (Day 4-B; Day 5-B)


Day 6 - Morocco

Our journey continues to Tarifa, where we board the ferry and cross the Straits of Gibraltar to Tangier. We enjoy lunch here at a restaurant overlooking the beach before transferring to the station and joining the train to Rabat. We arrive in the evening after a scenic journey along the wild coastline, past primitive settlements set amongst rich farmland. Our base for two nights in Rabat is the Hotel Farah. (B,L,D)


Day 7 - Rabat

Today we explore Rabat and visit the old medina, the Royal Palace of Hassan II and the Kasbah des Oudaïa. The afternoon is free for you to discover this wonderful city at leisure. (B)


Days 8-9 - Casablanca and Marrakech

We travel to Casablanca by coach this morning to enjoy a fascinating tour of the city. We also visit the second largest mosque in the world - a truly magnificent sight. After lunch we take the train this evening to Marrakech. We spend three nights at the Es Saadi Hotel. On Day 9 we take a sightseeing tour of Marrakech and then have time to explore before we visit the magical Djemaa El Fna Square, an ancient meeting point for entertainers, dancers, acrobats, snake charmers and traders. We also view the city's ramparts, minarets and tranquil gardens and visit the vibrant souks of the medina. This evening we sample Moroccan cuisine and enjoy some traditional entertainment. (Day 8-B,L,D; Day 9-B,D)


Day 10 - The Atlas Mountains

We learn about the Berber people today during a fascinating excursion to the lush, green Ourika Valley, nestled between the majestic Atlas Mountains. The day includes a visit to a typical Berber home where we enjoy a cup of traditional mint tea, and a tour of the local market where you have the opportunity to buy Berber handicrafts. (B,L)


Day 11 - North to Fez

Today we travel through remote regions, major cities and rural landscapes before arriving in Fez. On arrival, we transfer to the Hotel Crown Palace Fes, located in the new town area for a three-night stay. (B,D)

RETURN BY AIR OPTION:
If returning by air, you will transfer to Marrakech airport for the return flight to London. (B)


Days 12-13 - Fez, Roman Volubilis and Meknes

On Day 12 we enjoy a fascinating sightseeing tour of the old guilds, fortifications, souks and spice market of Fez. Our full day excursion on Day 13 takes us to Volubilis, Morocco's most impressive Roman ruins, before moving on to the Imperial city of Meknes. Tonight we dine in a Moroccan restaurant in the medina of Fez. (Day 12-B; Day 13-B,L,D)


Days 14-15 - Fez to Seville

We leave Fez by train and travel north to Tangier on Day 14 where we board the ferry for Tarifa. On arrival, we transfer by coach to the Hotel Tryp Macarena in Seville for a two-night stay. Our morning sightseeing tour on Day 15 includes Seville's Royal Palace, the spectacular Gothic cathedral, the Plaza de España and the narrow, winding streets of the pretty Santa Cruz area. The afternoon is free to explore this charming city at your leisure. (Day 14-B; Day 15-B)


Days 16-17 - Seville to London

We leave Seville by train for Madrid. Here we join the overnight train for the journey to Paris, in two-berth sleepers. There is a restaurant car on board. In Paris we transfer to the Eurostar for St Pancras International, with a complimentary meal and drinks served on board, before our arrival on Day 17. (Day 16-B; Day 17-B,E)

Hotel Crown Palace, Fez

The Hotel Crown Palace is situated in Fez's new town, close to the railway station. The hotel has two restaurants, two bars, an outdoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, fitness room and a beauty salon offering a range of massage and beauty therapies (payable locally). The rooms are air conditioned and feature a telephone, television, minibar, safe and a hairdryer.


Naçional Hotel, Madrid

The four-star Naçional Hotel is located near the Botanical Gardens, close to Atocha railway station in the heart of Madrid. The hotel's facilities include a restaurant and cocktail bar, and each room has air-conditioning, a telephone, television, minibar and a hairdryer.


Hotel Es Saadi, Marrakech

The 4-star Hotel Es Saadi in Marrakech is a firm favourite with guests and is set in a beautiful 8 hectare (19-20 acres) park just outside the medina. The hotel houses a large swimming pool, café, 2 restaurants, bar and casino. The Gastronomic restaurant serves French and Moroccan specialities where the Estrande Gourmade restaurant offers guests traditional French cuisine. The luxurious guest rooms include minibar, television, safe, air conditioning and hairdryer.


Golden Tulip Farah, Rabat

The 5-star Golden Tulip Farah is situated on the seafront, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, close to Hassan Tower, Mohamed V Museum and the centre of Rabat. The hotel has three restaurants, three bars, a coffee shop, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a gym. Rooms are air conditioned and have a telephone, television and a minibar.


Hotel Maestranza, Ronda

The charming 4-star Hotel Maestranza in Ronda is located in the historic centre, opposite the oldest bullring in the world, where bullfighting was born. The hotel also features a restaurant, Sol y Sombra restaurant offering typical Ronda cuisine and a spacious lounge. Rooms include minibar, hairdryer, television, air conditioning and safe.


Tryp Macarena Hotel, Seville
