Day 1 - The journey to Paris
We depart St Pancras International by Eurostar to Paris in Leisure Select Class. We leave the train and transfer to the nearby Hotel Terminus Nord for an overnight stay. (E)
Day 2 - Paris to Rocamadour
You have time to explore Paris this morning before we travel on the comfortable Corail service through central France to Brive in the Dordogne Valley. On arrival, we transfer by coach to the Hotel Beau Site in Rocamadour. This beautiful village enjoys a truly dramatic setting, built into the side of a cliff. (B,D)
Day 3 - Rocamadour, Padirac Chasm and the Dordogne
Today begins with a guided walk around Rocamadour, a site of great historical importance with its medieval houses, fortified stone gateways and sanctuaries. We then travel north by coach to the river for lunch at the Michelin-starred Le Pont de l'Ouysse restaurant where we savour the gastronomic creations of chef Daniel Chambon. Our next stop is the famous Padirac Chasm, which we descend by lift and then explore by boat. (B,L)
Day 4 - Cahors and the River Lot
A local guide joins us for the day as we make our way south by coach to the old town of Cahors to visit the medieval centre and the famous fortified bridge, Le Pont Valentré. We then travel along the pretty Lot Valley for a lunch of regional cuisine at a country restaurant. On our way back we stop at St Cirq Lapopie. Perched on a cliff top, this fortified village of narrow, cobbled streets lined with medieval houses is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages in France. (B,L)
Day 5 - Medieval Sarlat and Dordogne cruise
With our guide, we travel by coach along the river to explore the medieval town of Sarlat on foot, then journey to La Roque-Gageac. Here we take a short river cruise along the Dordogne, admiring the châteaux and villages that perch above. We return to Rocamadour and perhaps a final stroll through the beautifully illuminated village, before a final dinner together in the hotel's popular restaurant. (B,D)
Day 6 - By train to London
We transfer to Brive to connect with the train for Paris and then the Eurostar. A complimentary meal and drinks are served before we arrive into St Pancras International. (B,E)
